The Merchant Account is what allows you to process orders online. If you are not creating an on-line store, or would otherwise not need payment processing, then you can move on to Step6.

There are many merchant accounts to choose from. Often times if you are using an on-line store builder like yahoo!™ stores, they will have merchant solutions built in. You can ask your programming company which one they reccomend or are comfortable incorporating.
